Diffusion filters in outdoor photos can really add a dreamy romantic mood.  I am never without filters.  As I mentioned before I like to make my own.  Get some clear mylar plastic. Cut pieces that will fit in your lens shade.  You can use a felt marker to add different colors around the hole for some dramatic effects.  For a visual on the home made plastic filter see page bg19.

The fastest and easiest way to get this kind of effect is to use fog or soft focus filters.  I prefer the fog.  If you have time and don't mind the mess you can smear Vaseline on a skylight filter and experiment until you get what you like.  Some customers may not like soft focus so I take them both ways.  To see the photo without the filter click the image.
